How to Access and Interpret Google Analytics

Transcript: (//= see screen activity)

Many people have a tech person install Google Analytics on their website but have no idea how to access the program and interpret the results. This tutorial will show you how to do so. … First, go to the Google search engine homepage and sign in to your Google account with your email address and password. If you do not have a Google account or can’t remember your password, you can register or have your password sent to you through the options on the Google home page.//

Next, search for Google Analytics and click on the listing in the search engine results page on Google Analytics official website.//

Click the sign in link on the top navigation bar.//

The unique visitors per month is the bottom line for your SEO efforts. It tells you what the traffic is, how many different people accessed your site in the previous 30 days.//

You should track this number once per month. Three other statistics are also important; unlike unique visitors they measure engagement: what do people do when they actually get to your site. These statistics are page views per visit, average visit duration and bounce rate. The bounce rate consists of the percentage of people who get to your site and leave without visiting any other pages.//

That’s Google Analytics. If your IT person placed it on your site, it’s easy to access and use. If not, please see my other Google Analytics video on how to install the program.
